Unshakeable Hope

Life brings unavoidable hardship, but God never promises a life free from suffering. Instead, as 2 Corinthians 1:1–7 reveals, He promises something far greater: His presence. God is the "Father of mercies and God of all comfort," walking alongside us through every valley to sustain and restore our souls.

Comfort to Share

True spiritual strength isn't built by avoiding trial, but by walking through it with the Lord. Remarkably, God doesn't let our suffering go to waste. The Holy Spirit turns our pain into an unshakeable hope, transforming yesterday’s trials into a powerful testimony of His enduring faithfulness. The comfort we receive in our darkest moments is meant to flow through us to others who are hurting.

  1. Who in your life currently needs the comfort and support that God once provided to you during a hard season?

  2. What specific lesson or testimony from a past trial can you share to encourage someone walking through a similar valley?

  3. How can you actively make space this week to sit beside and listen to someone who is hurting?

Dr. Chris Wall is a lifelong Oklahoma Baptist. He has served as Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Owasso since 2012. Recently, he completed his term as a Trustee and Vice President for the International Mission Board. He is the author of “A Life Worth Following,” the inspirational story of Justin Sullivan and a devotional guide for growing a deep relationship with God.
